Every batch of lekkerklei is made with food-grade and plant-based ingredients. We never use synthetic dyes, artificial preservatives, or anything we wouldn't be comfortable with our own children touching — or tasting.
Our story
Made with love, nature, and a little bit of mess
lekkerklei was born in a home kitchen, out of a simple desire: to give children something truly safe to play with. No synthetics. No nasties. Just pure, natural playdough that parents can feel good about.
How it all started
It started the way most good things do — with a child, a kitchen, and a question. When our founder's little one wanted to play with playdough, she read the label on the store-bought tub. Synthetic dyes. Preservatives. Ingredients she couldn't pronounce.
So she made her own using organic coconut oil, food-grade salt, and plant-based colourants from turmeric, beetroot, spirulina, and butterfly pea flower. Friends asked for some. Then friends of friends. And lekkerklei was born.

Handcrafted with care
lekkerklei is made in small batches, by hand. That means every tub gets the attention it deserves — the right texture, the right colour, the right softness. No factory shortcuts.
Safe for little hands (and mouths)
Children explore the world through touch and taste. Our dough is food-grade safe — meaning even if your toddler sneaks a nibble, you don't need to panic. It's not delicious, but it won't harm them.
Good for the planet
We use plant-based colourants and natural oils because they're better for children and better for the earth. Our packaging is kept minimal and we're always looking for ways to reduce our footprint.
